Sheelvardhan
Founder & Director, Vardhnova Biotech — Microbiologist. Technologist. Builder.
“Innovation happens at the intersection of scientific curiosity and real-world execution.”
Biotechnologist and technologist — building research infrastructure that gives Indian startups and MSMEs access to coordinated scientific development without building an entire internal R&D team.

The Beginning
Curiosity before the classroom
Sheelvardhan's path into biotechnology began with a fascination for how advanced science could reshape everyday life. He completed his formative education at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), where a habit of asking how things actually work took hold early.
Time spent in a clinical hospital environment proved pivotal. Watching sensing devices and medical technology directly change patient outcomes gave him an early, ground-level understanding of where biology meets technology — and where the gap between the two still needed closing.

The Research Years
Learning to work at the bench
He pursued an M.Sc. in Microbiology, shifting fully toward research and sustainable innovation. Under the mentorship of the late Dr. Hirdesh Kumar, he developed the methodology and rigour that still shape how Vardhnova runs projects today.
During this period he led a range of hands-on research projects — fermentation, microbial formulation and applied product work — several of which became the seed of Vardhnova's approach to development.

Industry & Quality
From bench to production line
Moving from academia into manufacturing, he built hands-on expertise in QC Microbiology at Pritam International — a third-party manufacturer producing for national and global brands. This is where strict industrial protocols, precision testing and quality assurance became second nature.
At Dayal Fertilizers, under industrial mentorship, he learned to scale lab-level research into commercially viable products. That experience directly informs how Vardhnova delivers production-ready outcomes today.

Research Portfolio
Work done with his own hands
A selection of research and formulation projects that shaped Vardhnova's development approach.
- Therapeutic fermented wine with immunity-supporting botanicals (Giloy, Lemongrass) — abstract published at national level
- Waste-to-ethanol conversion using a dual fungal culture from kitchen waste — formally published research
- Non-grape wine development: beetroot, amla, potato and mixed-fruit fermentation protocols
- Multifunctional phosphate and potassium-solubilising bacteria with anti-fungal properties
- Bioactive candle formulations with defined terpene profiles
- Natural sleep salve with a mango-butter carrier and botanical extracts

The Technologist
A rare pairing of science and software
Unusually for a biotechnologist, he also builds the technology — the platform, the intelligence layer and the sensing hardware behind Vardhnova.
- Full-stack engineering — built the Vardhnova platform end to end
- AI systems architecture with multi-model orchestration
- IoT sensing device development, hardware to firmware
- Knowledge graph and structured scientific data design
- Multi-provider LLM orchestration with parallel inference
- Custom embedding pipelines for biomedical and chemical text
- Vector search and retrieval-augmented (RAG) architecture
Aio Prysm
Prototype stageA multi-axis wearable sensing device developed within Vardhnova, designed to monitor physiological, behavioural and environmental signals. It is at prototype and logic-complete stage — being developed toward pilot validation, not a commercial medical product today.
Building the Organisation
From a project to a research organisation
Incubation at IIMT Business Foundation provided the infrastructure, mentorship and structure that turned an ambitious idea into a working organisation — and shaped Vardhnova's milestone-based, science-first way of delivering R&D.
The Vision
Make serious R&D accessible to the people building the future.
Vardhnova exists to give founders, MSMEs and organisations access to coordinated scientific development — the research, prototyping, optimisation and validation that usually requires an entire in-house team. Built by someone who has done the science, the manufacturing and the engineering himself.
